With an eclectic mix of art nouveau, art deco, formal French, Italian and New Zealand design, The Hart Lodge features alluring antique and contemporary treasures that will captivate your senses…

During your stay at The Hart you are welcome to gaze at the ornate beauty of our gorgeous collection of French antique mirrors, one dating back to the 1700’s and the era of Louis-Philippe – the King of the French.

Fornasetti is a famous artist born in Milan and is a personal favourite. The lodge features a series of monochromatic gold-rimmed plates in his collection known as “Theme and Variations.” Fornasetti was the first to blur the line between fashion and design and is of great inspiration to the interior of the lodge.

Other incredible antique features of the property include an empire style 1920’s chandelier from Argentina, and a myriad of art pieces from around the globe with designs that help us better appreciate the world.

There is a wonderful piece of floral art from the French designer Christian Tortu to be admired and a brilliant hot pink poppy on black canvas by NZ Artist Wendy Galvin.

“Few things in our world play a greater role in the cycle of life than flowers, nature’s perfect manifestation of beauty. The flower’s diversity has come to symbolize our most significant rituals, contextualizing many events and their associated emotions becoming enmeshed in our culture.”  Wendy Galvin
