Established formal gardens frame the property in a mélange of green, complimented with lush native forest and manicured hedging. A long sweeping driveway leads you down to The Hart with its majestic turrets, dormer windows, and grand verandahs giving you the impression you have arrived at a castle.
The beautifully manicured gardens provide the perfect venue for weddings, honeymoon stays and day seminars which are a specialty here at The Hart.
Our most recent addition is the Parterre Garden; a formal garden construction consisting of geometric shapes made of buxes plantings with a circular water fountain taking centre place.
Axial limestone gravel paths have been arranged to form a pleasing, symmetrical pattern and as history tells, these were designed primarily for moonlit navigation. Yews planted nearby in the main walkways give shadow effects and in time will be nurtured and trimmed into ornate shapes and pyramids.
The garden is influenced by the greatest French garden and landscape gardener Le Notre who designed the gardens of Versailles. The Hart gardens are designed for the senses concerned with the pleasures of seeing , smelling, hearing and touching.
Escape to hidden corners of the expansive grounds with a good book, or settle in with a pair of our binoculars and watch the deer and wildlife or just sit, relax and admire the panoramic views of the Kaimai Ranges and the glistening Pacific Coast.
